SNVRK IMAGES opens with an editorial licensing catalog and a press grant for News Corp, Fox and TMZ

SNVRK IMAGES, the photography licensing business of SNVRKOTICS LLC, is live at snvrkimages.com. The catalog opens with editorial photography and licenses it for editorial use, with every image carrying the structured data Google requires to show licensing details in image results.

The press grant

SNVRK IMAGES makes a standing grant to News Corp and its subsidiaries, Fox Corporation and its subsidiaries, and TMZ: any image in the catalog may be used for editorial purposes at no fee, on the condition that it is credited "Photograph: SNVRKOTICS". The grant covers news, commentary and reporting in print, broadcast and online. It does not cover advertising, merchandise or any commercial use, and it does not waive any right of a person who appears in an image. The full terms are on the licensing page.

Editorial, and why

The images in the catalog do not carry model releases, and SNVRK IMAGES says so on every image rather than leaving a licensee to find out. Editorial use — illustrating a story that the image is genuinely about — is the use a photograph without a release can lawfully support, and it is the only use the catalog offers for those images.

How licensing works

A license is issued per image and per use, with a verification page a licensee can show to anyone who asks. Licenses are recorded against the image, and the image's page carries license and acquireLicensePage markup so that a search result links to the terms rather than to a download.
