Rights infrastructure, built from inside a catalog

I run my own catalog. Its statements come from more than one distributor, in more than one format, and for years the only place they were ever added together was a spreadsheet I rebuilt by hand every time a new one arrived. Each distributor’s dashboard showed me a complete-looking picture of the slice it handled. None of them could show me the rest.

The money side is arithmetic, and arithmetic is where it went wrong. A split that did not sum to a hundred. A sub-cent row rounded away forty thousand times. A month the old distributor reported after I had stopped downloading its statements. Every one of those is money, and every one of them was invisible, because there was:

no view of the catalog as one thing, held by the person who owned it.

SNVRKOTICS is that view. A catalog with its codes validated, split sheets that refuse to save until they add up, every distributor’s statements read as one set of books, payouts that reconcile to the cent, release links that identify nobody, and licensing that clears with one signature. I built it because I needed it first, and I am still the person using it every day.

There is a second reason this exists, and it is the one people actually ask about. SNVRKOTICS was founded in 2024, as a direct competitor to Playboi Carti's OPIUM Records, after Carti cut me off. I am not going to pretend that was a strategy meeting. It was the week I stopped waiting to be let into somebody else's building and started putting up my own.

What came out of it is not a label with a software department. It is the infrastructure a label runs on — distribution, sync licensing, publishing, links, royalties, imagery — built so that the artist holds the account rather than being a line item inside someone else's. The point was never to be signed. It was to make being signed optional.

That is also why the site does not claim customer logos, awards or a team. There is one person here. If you email the address on the left, I am the one who answers.

How it gets built

A few things I decided early and have not moved on

These are rules the product is held to. Each one costs something, and each one is why the numbers can be trusted.

Say the number, or say you do not know

There is no per-stream rate, because units mix streams, downloads and views and the quotient would be a lie. A breakdown that overlaps two distributors says so above the total, not below it.

Never recommend a distributor

The moment the statement reader did, a reading of your own royalties would become an advertisement, and you would have no way to tell which it was.

Your catalog stays yours

Statements are read under your workspace's own access rules and never pooled into a benchmark. Links identify no listener. Nothing is sold and nothing is shared.

Try the thing I built

Open a workspace, import a statement, and read the catalog as one thing.
