Cookie Policy

Effective date
September 2026
Applies to
SNVRKOTICS, and everyone using it

SNVRKOTICS uses the cookies required to sign you in, one that remembers your theme, an analytics identifier if you allow it, and, on nvr.news only, Google's advertising cookies. This Policy lists them in full and explains what we have chosen not to use.

1.What cookies are

1.1

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. It lets the site recognize your browser on your next request, which is how you stay signed in from one page to the next.

1.2

This Policy covers cookies and similar browser storage used by the SNVRKOTICS application and website. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data generally.

2.The cookies we set

2.1

We keep this list short on purpose. In full, it is:

CookiePurposeTypeLifetime
Session and authentication cookiesKeep you signed in, secure your session against forgery, and refresh your session token. Set by our authentication provider. Without these you cannot sign in.Strictly necessarySession, up to 1 year for the refresh token
snvrkotics-themeRemembers whether you chose the light or dark appearance, so the correct one renders immediately on your next visit.Preference1 year
snvrkotics_cookie_choice (browser storage)Records your answer to the cookie notice, so it is asked once and your choice governs analytics and, on nvr.news, ad personalisation.Strictly necessaryUntil you clear the site's data
PostHog analytics identifierSet only after you choose Accept. Lets us count how the product is used. Served through our own domain.Analytics (consent)1 year
Google advertising cookies, on nvr.news only (including IDE, set by doubleclick.net, and test_cookie)Set by Google when advertising loads on nvr.news: frequency capping, measurement and fraud detection always; personalisation only after you choose Accept. See the Privacy Policy, section 5.Advertising (non-personalised by default; personalized by consent)Up to 13 months, set by Google
2.2

Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive and UK PECR, because the Service cannot function without them. The theme preference cookie stores only a display choice and no personal data.

3.What we do not use

3.1

On every service except nvr.news we have deliberately not added the categories most sites have:

  • no advertising or retargeting cookies;
  • no third-party session-recording scripts;
  • no social media tracking pixels;
  • no cross-site tracking of any kind, and no sale or sharing of browsing data.
3.2

nvr.news is the exception, because a news title has to be paid for, and it is paid for by advertising served by Google. The cookie notice on that site says so, defaults to non-personalised advertising, and offers personalized advertising only as a choice you make. Smart-link pages on nvr.to set nothing at all, which is why they carry no notice.

4.Local storage

4.1

Alongside cookies, the Service uses your browser's local storage to hold a draft of a post you are composing, so an accidental refresh or a dropped connection does not lose your work.

4.2

That draft stays in your browser, is not transmitted to us as a cookie, and is cleared when the post is published or the draft is discarded. Clearing your browser data removes it.

5.Managing cookies

5.1

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Every major browser offers this under its privacy or security settings.

5.2

Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in, because there is no other way for us to recognize your session. Blocking the theme cookie only means your appearance choice is not remembered between visits.

5.3

Cookies set by the platforms you connect are governed by those platforms' own cookie policies, not this one.

6.Changes to this Policy

6.1

If we add a cookie, we will update the table in section 2 and change the effective date at the top of this document. A cookie that requires consent is asked for before it is set; the advertising cookies on nvr.news are the one case, and the notice there is that request.

6.2
